La Voleuse du Chagrin

09. Geeslin Vineyard

This is one of the rockiest and one of the sandiest locations that I’ve come across in Napa Valley. Yes, it’s St George rootstock and it’s Eisele clone cabernet, but the site shows a more distinct tannic profile—it always had this rustic charm. Yeah, it’s a special site.” –Nigel Kinsman

Geeslin Vineyard—Calistoga
Cabernet Sauvignon

La Voleuse du Chagrin - The Thief of Grief – celebrates our reunion with Geeslin Vineyard, a tiny 1.4-acre planting occupying a piece of profound terroir in Calistoga’s eastern reaches. Having quietly contributed to the neighboring Araujo Estate program for decades, the fruit left our sights for a time as the Estate transitioned to new ownership. Thankfully, it found its way back to us in 2018, relieving us of our chagrin.

“Seductively opulent and beautifully poised, this is one of the most exciting new single-vineyard expressions out of Napa Valley in recent years!”

10. The Relationship

It is such an honor to work with this site. It’s been planted for 50 years and there have been friends and family wines made off the property, but it’s such an honor for us to be able to present, to Keith and Prisca specifically, the first single-vineyard wine from their property.” –Shae Kinsman
