Ecotone Vineyard – Napa Valley
Cabernet Blend
Perched on the eastern hills above St Helena lies a neverland of Napa Valley. Too low to carry the designate ‘Howell Mountain’ and too high to wear the mark of ‘St. Helena’, Ecotone Vineyard sits contentedly at the end of an impossibly narrow, windy road in its own intimate glen. Here the fruit ripens at its own pace thanks to slow moving fogs, and its decomposed volcanic ash soils stand apart from the surrounding red Aiken earth. It is a place that, like the visionary who planted the vineyard in the late ‘80s, defies categorization.
“This wild, structured cabernet is going to need a number of years to come together. It shows tons of energy and depth, and Nigel Kinsman has done a tremendous job in taming tannins that can be quite fierce at this site."– Antonio Galloni
