Anjea

07. Sleeping Lady Vineyard

This is a beautiful vineyard. My style of wine—a little restrained, a little more tannin, a little more structural. Not as silky, polished or plump as a lot of other Napa cabs. Right in my wheelhouse.” –Nigel Kinsman

Sleeping Lady Vineyard—Yountville
Cabernet Sauvignon

Anjea, a fertility goddess in Australian Aboriginal mythology, represents the connectedness and respect for life and land that underpins traditional Aboriginal life. We see this reverence for nature reflected in the way the Bettinelli family farms Sleeping Lady Vineyard, the source of our cabernet sauvignon, Anjea.

“This is sleek in feel, with a pinpoint structure coursing underneath vivid notes of black cherry, black currant and blackberry coulis, all boding well for time in the cellar.””

08. The Relationship

More often than not Anjea pretty much makes itself, with little winemaking input. It's thrilling to step aside when we harvest fruit that has all it needs to form a beautifully proportioned wine. There is no greater joy than to work with a vineyard like this—mindfully farmed and irrefutably distinct.

Anjea's pure, delineated fruit character and elegant framework are hallmarks of the Sleeping Lady site, gratis of its dark, gravelly soils and the San Pablo Bay's constant cooling influence.
